Edible Native Plant Index

The land you live on already grows food. This is the introduction.

Most of us have walked past these plants without knowing what they were.

Lemon Myrtle on a council verge. Pigface on a coastal headland. Warrigal Greens sprawling across a disturbed creek bank. They were growing. They were ready. Nobody had introduced us to them yet.

This index does that.

36 edible native species, each with a field guide entry written for coastal and eastern NSW. What part is edible and how to use it. When to harvest, season by season. Growing notes for the conditions you actually have  the humid summers, the sandy or clay-heavy soil, the bush that's never far away.

Most of these plants have fed people on this continent for tens of thousands of years. Several need no fertiliser if the soil is right. A few will grow in the spots where nothing else will.

There is a field-note line left open in each entry. A space for what the plant shows you once you start paying attention.

Printable format  take it to the nursery, take it to the bush.
